What We Teach

Who is Jesus?

Radiant Church is all about Jesus Christ. We trust him, worship him, and seek to reflect his goodness in every aspect of our life and ministry together. But maybe you’ve never had a serious conversation about him and are wondering, what’s the big deal about Jesus?

A simple summary:

Jesus is the Son of God. More specifically, he is God the Son—the second Person of the Trinity. Along with God the Father and God the Holy Spirit, He created the world. But Jesus is also fully human. He saw the brokenness of the human race, and He lowered himself to become one of us in order to save us.

“Save us from what?” you might ask. Simply put, our sin. God created us to reflect his goodness in the world, but starting with the first humans, we have sinned against our Creator. We disobey His commands and do what is right in our own eyes. Sin results in physical and spiritual death. But we are not without hope. Early on, God promised to one day send a Savior who would reconcile the disruption sin had caused between humans and Himself. That Savior is Jesus.

Jesus came down to earth, was born as a human, and led the only sinless human life ever lived. Then He willingly offered himself in a sacrificial death to save sinners like us from the consequences of sin—everlasting death. On the cross, He bore the weight of sin and God’s just judgment on sinners. He was buried and rose to life again three days later accomplishing victory over evil and death.

This good news—that Jesus has made a way for sinful humans to be made right with God—is known as the gospel. Redeemed sinners who come to Jesus in repentance and simple faith receive God’s mercy in that our sins are forgiven. We receive the gift of a righteousness that isn’t our own. Ultimately, we receive Jesus Himself.

At Radiant Church we are all about this good news! We are a family of forgiven people helping each other follow their patient Savior, Jesus Christ the Son of God. If you want to know more about Jesus, or if this is the kind of church you’re looking for, join us this Sunday morning for worship!
